This course shows editors how to convert a poorly written or badly structured article into a coherent and persuasive piece of writing. It uses practical examples and sets out the key skill of  “deconstruction”: working out how a piece has gone wrong and how to put it right.  It also examines the briefing process, where the original problem may lie.  “Rewrite” is principally a US term that describes a skill that goes beyond simple sub-editing.  Peter has worked on stories at the Washington Post and this course, like several others, draws on his knowledge of US journalism techniques and instruction.
